Migrants Missing After Boat Capsizes Off California Coast

Several Indian passports were found near a boat that washed ashore north of the Mexico-U.S. border. Four survivors were hospitalized, while seven others remain missing. The Coast Guard has suspended a 28-hour search covering over 520 nautical miles. Officials believe the vessel—a panga often used for smuggling—was carrying migrants, not tourists. Emergency responders provided aid at the scene, but the immigration status of those involved is still unclear.

Three people lost their lives when a small fishing vessel flipped over off the coast of San Diego, California, leaving local authorities searching for survivors. The US Coast Guard disclosed that at least sixteen souls were aboard the panga, a style of boat commonly used for fishing, including two young children. Initially, as many as nine passengers were unaccounted for following the accident, yet rescue teams would eventually retrieve two more from the choppy waters in decent health. Interviews with witnesses suggested to a spokesperson that negligence may have played a role in the calamity, though the true cause remains uncertain until a formal investigation can be conducted. For now, the search persists for any others who may yet be found, clinging to driftwood or debris, as relatives keep vigil on the shore, praying for good news.
